Jackson
County is located in the Great Smoky Mountains of NC. Sylva is the county seat, and Court is held at the Jackson County
Justice Center, located just off Highway 19/74. The beautiful former Courthouse sits at the top of the hill in Downtown
Sylva, at the end of main Street, and is currently used by the Jackson County Sheriff Department.
Jackson
County is fortunate to be a county with only a few days of criminal
court each month. Usually, Criminal District Court will be held
on Monday, some on Tuesday, and about 2 out of 3 Friday mornings will be set aside for administrative, or traffic, court.
Jackson County is part of the 30th Judicial District, covering all counties from Haywood West to Cherokee. The Current
District Attorney is Mike Bonfoey.
